Inspiration for the monkey stamp: two real life sock monkeys
Monkeys with stamp
The idea for this stamp was born when I first tried carving rubber at a printmaking class. One side of my block was a picture of two monkeys holding hands, with SINGE and MONKEY on the top and bottom. A sort of flashcard for the french word for monkey, if you will.
I had the expression all set to go until I carved away a full nose.
Then I thought, “Why not leave it open? Wouldn’t that be more fun?”
More fun for me to make, more fun to have, because any face can work!
I’m happy with the way it turned out.
Ok, have to get to cleaning now.
If you are lucky enough to be done cleaning, craft on!
